Copperhead County March Sheets Update + News

Hello outlaws,

I've uploaded an updated version of the Copperhead County sheets, and also updated the online sheets. The changelog is not that extensive:

  • I extended the crews' Income tracks to allow for the unlikely event that a crew will unlock every single Income claim in the game (although perhaps some maniacs among you will want to do just that in your campaign).
  • To create an even number of Income claims for this purpose, I also changed one of Front's claims to a new Income claim, "Loan Sharking." This is a classic enterprise on the thin line between legal and illegal activity and I think it fits in the Front portfolio very well.
  • I adjusted the Trouble clocks to spill over when filled, and standardized the roll results between Trouble rolls and Project rolls.

WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON

Aside from that, I'm back at work on completing  the Copperhead County digital book. After a big December, I intended to take January easy, but then because of Bad Times, I ended up not getting much done in February, either.

Oh well. I'm back on the horse now and working on some updates I hope to push to the live PDF soon. As always, writing and editing Copperhead County is a one-man (and occasionally two-man) operation, so updates will come as best as I can manage them.

HIGH-PRIORITY ITEMS

  • Filling in holes. The current standalone-ish version of the game has some holes in it, some of which I had to cut for time for the December update, some of which were stupid oversights by me. Those are getting filled in!
  • Job opportunities. Need inspiration for jobs? In Copperhead County, the setting chapter will include several job suggestions for each area of the county (rather than these being organized by crew type, etc). This has been in the works for a long while, but didn't make it into the December update because some areas were more job-ful than others. Now I'm going through and rewriting and improving and completing all of them. Here's an example.
  • Action examples. This is another thing that got cut for time from the December update. We have very good exegesis on all of the actions ready, but I cut those pages because I wanted to redo the example text. Those will be in the next update.

MEDIUM-TERM ITEMS

  • More setting details.  I want to pad out the setting chapter with more useful information about how the county government works, important NPCs like the DA, and so on. This also includes...
  • Outside faction plates. The Outside factions will also get full write-ups just like the local factions.
  • More art. I have a couple of places tagged for new art now, but as I add the above material, we'll also add more stuff by official Copperhead County artiste Adam Schwaninger.
  • The free version. I used to have a free preview version of the game available here, and would like to again. At some point, I'll put up a new free promo version with lots of important bits cut out.

LONG-TERM ITEMS

  • Print. This is a consistent question I get, and something that I know lots of people care about. My current thinking on print is that I'm very unlikely to set up POD because I don't really want to sell through DTRPG or so on. I like using Itch as the exclusive online distributor of Copperhead County. So in the future, I will probably do my own limited print run and make that available here. I'll figure out some way to provide a discount for current digital owners, too.
  • Copperhead '77. Copperhead '77 is a variant setting I've been puttering with for a while. In fact, eagle-eyed readers might notice the current text has a lot of references to the 1970's being an era of conflict and upheaval in Copperhead County. This is something I really want to finish, but will have to wait until the main game is done. It'll probably come out as a separate PDF.
  • Tortuga County. You may have seen previous references to Tortuga County, a Southern California setting within the Copperhead Extended Universe, which is being developed by my friend, and genius game maniac, Calum Grace. In fact, Tortuga County is the setting for our current bi-monthly (at best) campaign, which is GMed by Calum as a spin-off from the multi-year Copperhead County campaign I ran for the same group. Tortuga isn't currently available anywhere, but I might look out for it on Calum's Patreon. To be clear, Tortuga is Calum's product (with my blessing and support), and any release decisions with it will be made by him!

THAT'S IT

I think that's enough for now! Stay tuned for future news.
