July Sheets Update + More Art
Hello outlaws,
I've just uploaded a small update to the game sheets, and have more art to show you.
Sheet Changes
The biggest change to the sheets is pretty important: I decreased the length of xp tracks across the board.
Why did I do it? The easy answer is, "I started playing a PC and wanted to personally make myself advance faster," but that's only partially true. Originally, I made the CC xp tracks longer than Blades because Blades PCs have three main xp triggers, and Copperhead County PCs have four, and I wanted to manage their advancement rate. However, after finishing a very long campaign, and considering how to make the game friendlier to shorter playthroughs, I'm no longer as concerned about that. And anyway: I'm also playing a Blades PC in another game, and even there I'm like, "Fuck, I wish I had more action dots!" So I don't mind if CC PCs advance faster anyway.
The other changes are just changes to some crew special abilities that I made while doing final edits of that chapter of the book. I felt like the downtime abilities that the Hellraisers and Outfit had didn't totally make sense, mechanically or fictionally. I try very hard to avoid any disassociated mechanics, particularly with special abilities; there should always be a sensible connection between the ability fiction and the mechanical effect, and I felt like those abilities were too close to manna from heaven — just some shit falling out of the sky without justification. So I moved some stuff around! Big thanks to my smart friends Michael Crowley and Calum Grace for helping me think through these edited and new abilities.
Chapter Art Complete
I'm pleased to announce that Copperhead County interior artist Adam Schwaninger and I have completed a major milestone and finished all full-page pieces for our chapter introductions. This means the book is now substantially art-complete, with just some smaller, in-chapter pieces left to go.
Here, gaze upon the cover art and all chapter introductions gathered into one file:
Book Corner
At the time of my last post, I was in the middle of reading Blacktop Wasteland by S.A. Cosby. I just want to reiterate: the book is fucking great. I recommend it in the strongest possible terms to all Copperhead County fans.
Now Cosby has a new book out, Razorblade Tears, which I started reading last night. Also great! Check them out!

That's all for now. Stay tuned for further summer updates.
